September 17, 2018 - Kelly Clough, ND told us about the integrative approach to health that is practiced by Naturopathic doctors. He described 3 of the largest trends in healthcare today. (1) The patient is becoming a consumer who wants access, value, and convenience. The danger is that the patient can be overwhelmed with all the information available today. (2) Medical Science Fiction is coming. This includes anti-aging functional treatments, genetics, and increased use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The danger is that new methods can be very expensive and may mask root causes. (3) Alternative Medicine is going mainstream. Licencing is increasing across the US, MDs are looking more at wellness. Dr. Clough said there are many natural herbs such as ginger, tumeric, and tea that can help with health and wellness.  His presentation led to many questions from club members.

 September 10, 2018 - Our speaker was Roberta Miller, candidate for Clerk of the Court.  She described some of the responsibilities of the clerk which include recording all court proceedings, maintaining case files, providing court documents to requestors, and accounting for financial aspects of the court (collecting fines and restitution payments).  She provided an example of a women awarded $5,000 at trial but payment was not received until 7 years later.  The clerk is responsible to track down and reimburse plaintiffs even if they have moved. 

 

 The club presented Ruben  from the Guadalupe B&G Club, a $500 check in support of ongoing club activities.

 Sept 5, 2018 - Our club held a Happy Hour at VinciTorio's Restaurant to thank the sponsors and people who helped make our Inaugural Golf Tournament last April such a success. Wally and Kelly are smiling along with two of our supporters.

We had lots of fellowship and laughter and we also shared our sponsorship opportunities for our next tournament on April 5, 2019.  We will be holding the tournament at Whirlwind again this coming year.  We hope to increase our contributions from sponsors, and increase the number of golfers participating.  You can see a few photos by clicking HERE.
