Kyrene Golf Tournament

April 5, 2019 - The Kyrene Rotary club held it's second annual Classic Golf Tournament today. It was a best ball scramble with a shotgun start. Over 80 golfers participated and the club raised several thousand dollars to help the local community. A dinner followed the tournament and prizes were awarded. Feedback has all been positive.

About Our All Volunteers Club

If you are a busy person who wants to have fun while making a difference, then be our guest for lunch on Monday (not holidays) from 12:10 to 1:15 pm at the Kobe Japanese Steakhouse. Southwest Human Development

March 25, 2019 - Yara Marin and David Reno from Southwest Human Development which is Arizona's largest non-profit dedicated to early childhood development, described their organization and it's many projects.

The organization began in 1981 and currently serves 135,000 children and families each year. One of the organization's major programs is literacy. They have several projects dealing with this, and they gave us details on the Little Free Library. They are looking for support, both volunteers and funding to continue and expand this program. Their data suggests that children who learn to read early and more likely to succeed and remain in school. Club members were very impressed with this organization.

Rotarian Malaria Partners - check presentation

March 25, 2019 - The Kyrene RC presented a $500 check to the Rotarian Malaria Partners represented by honorary club member Harry.

Foundation president, Dave, and club president, Kelly made the presentation. This is the club's second donation to this cause. Harry gave a brief overview of the malaria problem and was optimistic that Rotary can help solve it, just like we are doing for Polio.

Packing Food - United Food Bank - March 2019

March 23, 2019 - Rotarians and their friends and family set up a food assembly line and then packed 1,005 emergency food bags at the United Food Bank for UFB and first responders to provide to families in dire need.

Each bag contained 15 pounds of nutritious and non perishable food. This event lasted about 3 hours. The Kyrene Club was well represented with eleven volunteers. This was the 14th consecutive quarterly food packing event since a Kyrene Rotarian began the Rotary-UFB project four years ago.
