April 28, 2018 - The Tournament was a huge success!

  There were 100 golfers who said they had fun even though it was a hot day.

The vendors also were pleased with the venue and response from the golfers.

 We have set the date for next year's tournament - April 5, 2019 - Save the date

 

 April 16, 2018 - Roy Sinclair, a 3-time marathon runner and employee at Sky Harbor Airport gave us some interesting statistics about air travel. He told us there are 5000 airlines worldwide that provide 4,200 flights a day that carry 2.5 million passengers. Roy assured us that bags are never lost - they are just misplaced and the rate of misplacement is 2 to 3 bags per 1000. He told us that American Airlines now has 120,000 employees and is the largest airline in the world.

 April 11, 2018 - Club members Tom, Bill, Harry, and Andy served lunch at the Phoenix Rescue Mission. Good meal - saffron rice with pulled chicken and a delicious smelling curry sauce! They also had a salad where diners got lettuce mix and then could add any three toppings (out of about six).

 April 9, 2018 - David Lucier, Chairman of the Tempe Arts and Culture Commission, gave us an overview of the commission. The Tempe Arts and Culture Commission advises the City Council,  in the development of an arts and culture plan, and promotes such plans; supports the City’s General Plan goals relating to arts and culture and encourages diverse citizen participation in arts and culture programs and initiatives; and, advises City staff on arts and culture programs, projects, policies, and initiatives. The city supports the arts and culture initiative through a 1/10% sales tax which expires in 2020. David hopes that will be extended.  Tempe's art and culture programs are creative, vibrant, diverse, and receive countless accolades from the community.
