February 26, 2018 - John Conant gave us his background and his work with youngsters at Sunshine Acres where he and his wife live permanently in their RV. John then told us of his adventures in hiking the Appalachian Trail which he began in April 2015 and finished in September 2015. His journey took him over the highest peaks in 14 states and covered 2,800 miles. Along the way he broke two toes, developed a hernia and wore out 5 pairs of boots. He finished the journey 35 lbs lighter than he started since he was burning about 5,000 cal a day. It was a great accomplishment and John has many exiting stories about his trip.
February 19, 2018 - Today, Diane Elarde, Founder and principal of Emerging Insights, talked about financial beliefs and unconscious behavior. She claims that 80% of behavior comes from unconscious decision making. (Think of driving home without remembering how you did it). She had us fill out a financial beliefs assessment and then discussed our unconscious beliefs related to Self Worth, Worshipper, Fear, and Avoidance. Diane emphasized the need for spouses to discuss financial beliefs openly in order to avoid unexpected surprises later in life.
