Feb 8, 2015 - Charles Keller, the initiator of the Colten Cowell Foundation and creator of the Bat Cave, gave us a great presentation about the foundation and the success the Bat Cave is having.  He owns an original Batmobile which began the current program.

In the coming months they will be breaking ground on a 5 acre campus to build a 35,000 square foot Crime-Fighting Cave. There, kids fighting illness or hardship can make their dreams come true and become real-life super heroes. They hope to create unforgettable memories, smiles and laughter for children and their families, all the while empowering them to give back to the world and learn how rewarding it can be to help others. Their heritage starts with just a car (well, a Batmobile to be precise) in 2009, and to date the movement has entertained 178 families and given more than $500,000 to over 100 different charities. They hope to build what will be known for generations to come as The Monument to Compassion. A place where love for our fellow mankind trumps all.

  Feb 1, 2016 - Today club member Rob Foster gave us an overview of the Foster Care Review Board (FCRB) in Arizona. The FCRB has existed for 38 years and Rob has been a member for 7 years. He explained how children entered into the Department of Child Services (DCS) system and what the role of the FCRB was related to those children.  The statistics are staggering: over 19,000 kids are currently in the system and 10,000 of those are in Maricopa county.  The workload for all people (case workers, lawyers, judges, volunteers, foster parents, etc) associated with this system is over whelming.   Jan 30, 2016 - Volunteers from ASU and Kyrene Rotary clubs helped
drywall a Habitat for Humanity house in Chandler on Saturday.
 There were 20 or more Rotarians helping Saturday from 4 clubs, ASU Rotaract, Kyrene, Camelback Crossroads and Tempe Clubs but not all got in the group picture.

  Jan 26, 2016 - Jason Dudley, from SRP's Emerging Customer Programs, gave us a presentation dealing with Sustainability and Resource Planning for the Future.   Jason told us that SRP is the 3rd largest public utility company in the nation and just signed up its millionth customer.  He gave us many interesting statistics about how SRP plans, what they track and project, and how their generating capacity is distributed within Arizona and externally.  He noted that the future would involve much more power production from sustainable, renewable energy though storage and distribution are two major problems that have yet to be solved.  Jason's presentation was very enlightening and generated much discussion.
