Several members of the Kyrene Rotary club participated in the " A World in Motion" ( AWIM) project with Kyrene del Pueblo Middle School over the past nine weeks. The eighth grade students completed the Motorized Toy Car project on Friday, March 3. A second project will begin on March 24 and the AWIM - Rotary volunteers are looking forward to it. Feb 27, 2017 - Vladimir Pulaj from the Rotary Club Tirana in Albania gave us a very interesting slide presentation about his country and his Rotary Club. He described the major characteristics of his country and club. Albania has a population of just over 3 million people, is located on the Adriatic and Ionian seas, and is about the size of Delaware. It is a multicultural and multi-religion country and the Albanian language is one of the oldest in Europe. In 2009 it became a full NATO member. The RC Tirana was chartered in March 1992 and many other clubs have been chartered since then. The club has had many significant projects including vaccinations for newly born children, sponsorships for students, aiding Kosovo refugees, and funding multiple matching grants. Many thanks to Vladimir for giving us such a rewarding education.

Feb 20, 2017 - Club member David Archibald, an accomplished speaker and former track coach, gave us a very interesting tour of Arizona: a variety of geographies and histories. We saw photos of the Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelly, and Havasupai Canyon which includes three different water falls. We learned about towns such as Sedona, Jerome, Phoenix, and Bisbee as well as the colorful figures associated with their histories. David also described some interesting Indian folk lore. David had many more stories and photos available but there was not sufficient time in the meeting. Perhaps one day David will speak again about the history and geography of Arizona.
Feb 20, 2017 - Harry, one of the club's founding members, received a recognition award from the United Food Bank. Harry received the award on behalf of all the East Valley Rotary clubs who have participated in packing food once every quarter. Harry is the initiator and driver for this very successful multi-club project which provides significant support for the United Food Bank and the citizens of eastern Arizona..png)
