Jan 10, 2015 – Twenty-seven Rotarians pitched in to help complete another new house with Habitat For Humanity. Half of them did interior prep for painting and initial painting of trim & doors, while the other half removed weeds, concrete and debris from the lot in preparation for final landscaping. The Rotary volunteers were from the Kyrene, ASU, Camelback-Crossroads, Rio Salado, and Tempe Downtown clubs. The ASU Rotaract site has more pictures.
Jan 5, 2015 - Diane Travers and Alex Cannell spoke to us about the HELP club at Chandler Gilbert Community College. HELP stands for Hands Enriching Life Program which seeks to build the relationships between students and community by servicing those areas that need the most support. HELP addresses local as well as global needs by encouraging its members to engage in civic responsibility. They strive to unite the student body to serve the needs of our communities. The projects can be considered as service-learning projects and often assist students in qualifying for scholarships. The club has been in existence for 6 years and continues to grow.
