Cognitive Health and Your Hearing
Jan 11, 2016 - Tina Patton, Owner and Hearing Care Professional of Exceptional Hearing Care, gave us  an excellent overview of the relationship between loss of hearing and brain functions. The statistics regarding the number and ages of people with hearing loss problems were staggering. In addition, there is a very strong correlation between hearing loss and cognitive decline and dementia. She stressed that everyone should be as concerned about hearing as they are about vision since one cannot reverse any atrophy that has occurred in the brain.  Her presentation generated lots of questions and discussion.

Christmas Wrapping Potluck
Dec 13, 2015 -- Members gathered at David and Lordes'  home for an evening of dinner, present wrapping and fellowship.  We brought and wrapped Christmas presents for a large family with 6 children.  Kelly selected the family from the Kyrene School District Foundation's list of families in need.  Thanks to all!!  This is an annual event that club members vigorously support and enjoy.
United Food Bank Project
  Dec 12, 2015 - Today, multiple local Rotary Clubs participated in a food sorting project with the United Food Bank in Mesa. Here are some of the stats for the project.
* 30 volunteer Rotarians & friends  * 7 Rotary clubs participated
* 120 community service hours (30 volunteers x 4 hours)
* Nearly 6 tons of food was qualified and sorted (11,780 pounds)
* This will provide nearly 10,000 meals (9,816)
* That's 327 meals per volunteer!
* Learned a lot about how local food needs are met -
    Store surpluses -> Food banks -> pantries -> families in need
* Wowed UFB as to Rotary's mission, turnout and productivity!
