May 22, 2015 - Four enthusiastic members of Kyrene Rotary Club as well as a family member sold snacks and cold drinks on Friday, May 22nd at Tempe's "Movie in the Park" series. The movie was "The Little Mermaid" and Andy gets the award for most creative appearance.  His glow stick glasses were a hit! A great night was had by all!
The movies, that will be shown the whole month of May, are free to the public and are meant for the entire family to enjoy. They are held on the north side of Kiwanis Park. For a complete listing of the movie, visit: Movies in the Park 

 

 

  May 18, 2015 - Ginny Hildebrand, President and CEO of United Food Bank, told us that the United Food Bank has been a member of Feeding America Food Banks since 1992 and currently serves an area that is larger than West Virginia. The organization serves around 50,000 meals a day. She explained that the operating philosophy is Food, Fun, Friends, and Focus and elaborated on each of those terms. The Food Bank is currently emphasizing the concept of "Give where you Live". They are running a lottery to raise money for this program which will finish on Sept. 12.   Check the web site for more information. We discussed how our club can get more involved.

Harry and Dave "shake on the deal".  Harry gave a super farewell speech during which he mentioned each member and what their service to the club was and what it meant to him.  His speech was filled with humor and appreciated by the members.  We agreed that Harry has been a great president and we look forward to his continuing contributions in a new capacity this coming year.
