United Food Bank Overview

 April 17, 2017 - Jackie Shelly, Director of Development for the United Food Bank, gave a very interesting presentation. She described the multiple programs the Food Bank is engaged in and gave us many statistics about the high levels of poverty in Arizona and the amount and kind of food that is distributed. The United Food Bank is one of four in Arizona and serves Maricopa county and eastern Arizona. In 2015/16 they distributed over 26 million pounds which amounts to almost 22 million meals.

They also distributed over 21,000 Weekend Backpacks to food insecure children.  Our club has volunteered every quarter for the past two years to pack food at the local warehouse. We believe the Unitef Food Bank is very worthy of our strong support.
