June 29, 2020 - Today Mia Wallace, Program Assistant with the Train for Change project, which is part of the Students Helping Hondurans program, gave us an excellent overview of the project.  Her presentation can be seen by clicking HERE
Mia explained how the initial goal of the Students Helping Hondurans program was to build  or rebuild 1000 schools in rural Honduras. The goal of the Train for Change project is to empower local Honduran teachers through professional development. The objective is to improve the quality of education for 1 million children in the most impoverished areas. Eleven percent of children in Honduras  are illiterate. The average attendance at school is 4 years compared to 12 years globally.   Rotary International has helped with the funding and the Train for Change project hopes to receive another grant to continue their work in some of the major cities. They plan to use a Train for Change channel on Tube to help with distance learning, A PowerPoint presentation is available by clicking HERE
