Jennifer reviewed the Safety Corridor program that Tempe has deployed. The primary focus is to reduce late night drag racing. It involves cameras and coordination with the neighboring cities of Mesa and Phoenix. Police are identifying drag racers and tracking them for later arrest. No high speed pursuit is planned. They are also using surveillance at gathering places like Circle K's to disperse crowds before they form. Tempe as well as most Valley police forces are understaffed so they are trying to avoid crowd control activities.
