October 10, 2022 - Whitney Thistle, the Philanthropy Director of Maggie's Place, gave us an excellent overview of the organization which provides shelter for pregnant homeless women. They have several facilities around the valley and their Mission states that "Maggie’s Place welcomes pregnant and parenting women and their children into a safe and loving community, providing life-changing programs and ongoing services to help them to become self-sufficient." AmeriCorps members serve as 24/7 hour support at the Maggie’s Place homes. More than 1,100 moms and 650 babies have called Maggie’s Place home since it began is 2000. They have a thrift shop to help raise funds and are always looking for volunteers in a number of capacities. Whitney's presentation generated many questions.
