HOUSE OF THE FUTURE
On Monday, we’ll hear about the House of the Future, built in 1980 to showcase the new Ahwatukee development. Built by Presley Development of Arizona, it had buses running from Sky Harbor for tours. In the four years that it was opened, it had about 250,000 people tour the home. All tour admissions were donated to charity, a different one each month.Speaking will be Pete Meier, one of the first salesmen at Presley (and still selling real estate). In 1980 he was Presley’s Vice President of Sales. Also with us will be Don Kesner, a former member of the Ahwatukee Rotary Club and an engineer with Motorola who helped install the computer that operated all of the whiz-bang features.
